Fostering Japanese people who can be active globally

It is first important to build one’s identity. Children who appreciate their roots will establish their own character and perspective.

Human resources that the world needs

Globally renowned universities, including the Ivy League schools, are said to be looking for people with “growth potential,” not just students who perform well in classes and extracurriculars.

So what would “growth potential” mean?

We believe that “growth potential” signifies one’s ability to independently think and act, even without being instructed or influenced by other forces.

Fostering one’s “growth potential” requires exposure to various environments from early childhood, when children are the most curious

Developing your child’s strengths before entering school

For children, to play a lot means to learn a lot. By engaging in things they love to play with, children will develop concentration skills.

Our goal is to give children opportunities to play and learn in new environments, and nurture their capacity to concentrate and self-learn.

When does the brain begin to develop?

Children’s Brain Development and Early Childhood Education

For young children, to play is to learn—through play, their developing brain is stimulated and their potential is enhanced. The principles of Hokuto Education centers around stimulating children’s brain and their growth through diverse kinds of course content. At Hokuto New York School, we aim to bring out your child’s natural abilities in a relaxed and fun environment.

The foundation of a child’s brain development occurs mostly between 0 – 6 years old, and during this period it is important for us to supply the children’s rapidly growing brain with rich experiences.

90% of one’s brain development is completed in childhood, until age six.

Hokuto Education values the individuality of each student and provides educational content which best suits each student. By experiencing the joy of learning from this age, children will grow up to be self-learners. With our multi-faceted course content, our student’s abilities that originally seemed weak will be trained and strengthened, which will make all future learning more effective.

Age 0: Brain development is 30% complete. Be conscious to talk to them.

Age 1: A time to learn how to call objects. Ask them lots of questions like, “What’s this?”

Age 2: A time when curiosity begins to grow, They will begin to ask you, “What’s this?” Be conscious to answer carefully to their curiosities.

Age 3: Use picture books to teach letters and numbers. Expand the scope of their daily experiences.

Age 4: Brain development is 80% complete. Be conscious to give easily understandable answers to all their “why” questions.

Age 5: A time to be absorbing more and more information. Use pictures books with information to supplement their learning activities.

Age 6: Brain development is 90% complete. Make the child develop a habit of experimenting and learning on their own.

The Three Strengths of Hokuto Education

The “three strengths” that Hokuto Education places importance on: the most effective way to nurture these strengths is to create the right environment for raising children in their early years, because these early years influence their brain development the most.

Logical Thinking

Intuition and Judgement

Self-esteem and Broad Mindedness

Once children develop these three strenghs . . .
